Making the most out of your pasta jar: Making pasta with red sauce anytime soon? Don’t be too quick to let go of that sauce jar! Clean it thoroughly and use it to freeze pre-prepped smoothies for a few days. This is a great tip for smoothie meal prep, because you can fill your freezer with jars full of ready-to-go smoothies for the week. Take a jar out of the freezer and put it in the fridge the night before you need it, so it’s ready to drink when you wake up.
Vivian’s tip: Former OCL, Vivian , has this extra pasta sauce tip—ever find yourself struggling to get every last drop of sauce out of the jar to pour onto your pasta? Vivian has a solution: put your cooked pasta in the jar and swirl it around, then pour the pasta out, covered in that last bit of sauce! Thanks, Vivian! Mason jars: Did you get a little mason jar from Owls Care’s Lettuce Turnip the Beet event last week? Want to super-size it or create a separate space for dip? Grab an empty plastic fruit cup and fill it with your favorite snack or dip. Plop it right into your jar for a convenient dipping compartment. Flip the fruit cup over and put on top of the mason jar with the inner part of the lid in place. Take the outer part of the lid (big ring) and slide it over the fruit cup and the mason jar lid for extra storage! |
Apple & avocado storage: Did you know apples make other fruits ripen faster by producing ethylene gas? If you want to make your other fruits last the whole week, store your apples separately! Use this property to your advantage by putting an apple in a brown bag with an unripe avocado to speed up the ripening process. Leave out of the fridge at room temperature.
