smart core training
Regardless of whether you engage in regular physical activity or not, at some point you have probably heard about core training or have tried a few exercises out yourself. When you think of “core exercises” what comes to mind? If you are like the average person you probably thought of movements like the crunch, sit-up, or perhaps the Russian twist. While these exercises have long been used in core training, they fall short in providing an effective, safe, and comprehensive routine.
Without boring you with an anatomy lesson, your core involves muscles on the front, back, and sides of the trunk. Therefore, in order to have a well-rounded core training program it is important to incorporate movements that will engage all of these muscles equally. Here are some of our “Smart Core Training” exercises to try out and incorporate into your next workout. Complete each movement for 10-12 repetitions, and then repeat the entire sequence 2-3x for the best results. Check out this video for a demonstration of each exercise from our Trainer Elijah. |
